About

Hello! I am an art history instructor and freelance editor based in Hamilton, ON.

I completed a PhD in History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018, and my research focuses on histories of photography and visual pedagogy. I have published articles on Berenice Abbott’s physics photographs and Will Burtin’s Cold War-era exhibition design, and have taught courses on a variety of topics including the history of photography, the history of graphic design, American art, and museum studies. I currently serve as Visiting Lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh, teaching Introduction to World Art and History of Photography online.

As an editor, I specialize in helping art historians and artists with academic manuscripts, grant writing, and educational materials. If you would like to discuss a project, please reach out to me at colleenwatsonoreilly [at] gmail [dot] com.
